Design Assistant

More about the role:

Here at New Look we live and breathe all things fashion. We are looking for a passionate and driven Design Assistant to join us and be an integral part of our team! With a finger on the pulse for the latest trends at all times, this individual will be eager to bring forward new ideas and really get stuck in!

Accountabilities and Responsibilities: 

• General design admin across all womenswear departments
• Helping with preparation for departmental meetings
• Researching new trends and assisting on production of trend packs and company presentations. 
• Reacting quickly to new trends
• Completing and reporting back on New Look store visits and competitor shopping across retail and e-com.
• Bought sample management
• Building Range plans
• Demonstrating on-going familiarity of competitors product ranges
• Designing, and creating tech packs to send to factories under direction from line manager.
• Managing daily/weekly tasks in line with ways of working
• Willingness to take on new responsibilities and ownership through additional roles and responsibilities.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of adobe packages including photoshop, illustrator and indesign
• Proficient in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Ability to translate fashion trends into commercial product opportunities 
• Basic knowledge of spec’ing/measuring garments for development and technical packs.

• A positive attitude and ability to keep up with a fast-paced environment.
• Able to take constructive feedback, to learn and grow with the business.
• Customer knowledge and a strong commercial eye.
• Strong accuracy & superb organisation skills

Knowledge & Experience:

• Previous experience as a Design Assistant
• Fashion Design Qualification ideally at degree level
