About The Role:

As Creative Development Producer you will be working with the team to help develop concepts and prepare them for pitching. You will be responsible for leading the development of specific projects assigned to you with the support of the Head of Development and the rest of the team, as well as expected to help out in other areas of development when necessary.

You will need to be able to adapt to the needs of projects to guide the development of the concept and pitch materials, from both a creative and management perspective. Creatively this can cover everything from the core concept, characters, story and visual development, with an eye on intended production methods and budget. On some projects, this will mean working closely with creators to guide and support the creator’s ideas, and on other projects taking a more hands-on leadership approach creatively.

Day to Day:

  • Guiding the development of all planned pitch materials both creatively and managerially, which may include pitch bible, sample scripts, poster artwork, animation test, animatic, pilot episode, pitch videos, etc.
  • Commissioning appropriate artists, writers, designers and/or directors for each project, working closely with the People and Talent team and line managers.

  • When appropriate, liaising closely with other departments, to utilise their skills and expertise for any aspect of the development process.

  • Communicating closely with any external and internal partners and artists ensuring close collaboration at all stages.

  • Creatively feeding back on all aspects of the project, ensuring all collaborators notes are collated and a clear vision is maintained.

  • Managing and tracking project progress in relation to schedules to meet deadlines, and communicating progress with the team, adapting schedules where necessary depending on project priorities.

  • Keeping in mind expectations and limitations of intended series budget and schedule from the outset to ensure the scope of the project in development is achievable.

  • Understanding the requirements of each development. Contributing to planning and preparation of development schedules and budgets.
  • Supporting the creation of production schedules and budgets when required, working closely with the Head of Productions to ensure all relevant information and production assumptions are communicated and worked through.

  • Helping to pitch projects in-person to potential broadcasters, platforms and financiers

  • Keeping up to date with current market opportunities/priorities, attending industry events like BBC briefings and CMC and helping submit projects for industry events and funding applications

  • Ensuring, when appropriate, a smooth and thorough handover to production teams, when projects move into production.
