In a nutshell
As Creative Design Manager you'll lead and implement the creative articulation for Virgin Atlantic, ensuring a consistent identity across the master brand through all design touch points. This will include but not limited to : overseeing internal and external communications, customer journeys, film / photography content and digital / analogue marketing materials.
You'll contently solve business problems through strategic design and demonstrate the commercial value of creativity. you'll be required to attend project meetings and work “hand-in-glove” with the Head of Creative and Design and creative agencies. Leading and developing a team of 4 professional skilled designers and 1 content producer, to deliver creative projects that meet business objectives, to time and within budget.
Day to day
Drive creative expression and development of the Virgin Atlantic brand identity through the hands-on production of all design assets for use across external and internal touch points, both digital and analogue.
Ensure client briefs are interpreted, concepts are created and turned into outputs that effectively deliver on objectives. These are to be delivered on time, within budget and build out the Virgin Atlantic brand across all digital platforms.
Provide industry-leading digital and technical acumen - with UX, motion graphics and animation to deliver flexible pieces of communication which can be created or modified in-house and re-purposed for different geographies/languages.
In partnership with the Head of Creative, lead the overall creative direction and portfolio of all branded visual assets - photography, film and motion graphics.
Oversee the in-house content producer and Senior Digital Designer during the creation of any digital assets, giving artistic direction and sharing video editing knowledge when necessary.
Lead the selection of models/clothing/shot list etc. to ensure the customers we showcase are diverse, believable and authentically Virgin (in accordance with brand guidelines).
Accountable for continuously reviewing and developing the brand.Ensuring brand identity guidelines are maintained and updated as new requirements arise
Establish and maintain effective relationships across the organization, in order to understand project requirements, priorities and challenges. Ensure these are taken account of within the brand design and implementation process.
Able to clearly articulate to key stakeholders at all levels of the organization how briefs are being met, appropriately translating design concepts to gain buy in and support for proposals.
Provide creative leadership and generate real excitement for the Virgin Atlantic brand across the enterprise.
Coach and lead the team of multi-disciplinary designers through each of the projects, ensuring they deliver against cost, timescales and business objectives.
Leadership of Design team, to steer and deliver projects according to brief, time and budget. Mentor, develop and up-skill across project management practices, digital design, motion graphics, animation, video editing, client relationships and scheduling.
Identify and lead external consultancy resource on a project basis - both short term in-house consultants, as well as agency partners.
You’ll be a hands-on designer with established and proven track record of successfully delivering a portfolio of brand led design projects at a senior level. A Digital designer with a good knowledge of UX and UI - web and mobile, with proficiency in retouching, video editing and motion graphics. Using your previous experience of leading and mentoring a team you’ll have the ability to coach team members to develop multi-disciplinary design skills to enable flexibility across projects as required.
You’ll have the ability to lead the planning and management of the workflow across multi-disciplinary team members delivering large scale / complex projects and with an analytical approach you’ll have the ability to diagnose problems, suggest solutions and monitor issues. As a strong influence you’ll challenge proposals and suggest improvement to drive the brand agenda. As an expert mastery of After Effects, Cinema 4D, HTML, CSS and Java, you’ll be a conceptual thinker with the practical ability to translate these ideas into tangible creative outputs that meet business objectives. Experience in Adobe Campaign is preferred, however the ability to multi-task and direct effectively under pressure, manage conflicting deadlines, work at high speed and intensity while maintaining attention to detail is essential.
