We’re Kingfisher. You might know us as B&Q, Screwfix, Castorama, Brico Depot or Koçtaş. We’re made up of over 78,000 passionate people, call over 1,300 stores home and operate in 8 countries. That’s right, we’re big, but we have ambitions to become even bigger and even better. We want to become the leading home improvement company and grow the largest community of home improvers in the world. And that’s where you come in.

The Role:

The role of the Corporate Communications Manager is a key position in our Corporate Communications team and part of our Corporate Affairs function, seeking to grow and protect our company reputation as Kingfisher delivers its 'Powered by Kingfisher’ strategy. Operating across all external communications, you will drive key corporate and strategic communications campaigns, and develop creative materials that can be used across all our businesses and across all channels.

You'll manage the reputation of the plc business as we undergo a significant period of change and growth in a constantly evolving retail environment. You'll do this in a fast-changing media landscape, using both traditional media and, increasingly, by adopting a business partnering approach to build more of our own content for distribution through corporate digital and social media channels to reach our audiences.

Activities I deliver:

  • Work with external corporate comms agency to help set the corporate communications strategy and lead the development and deployment of corporate communications and PR campaigns to support the Group’s Powered by Kingfisher strategy.
  • Operate as a PR business partner providing counsel to key relevant departments (eg Digital and IT, Offer & Sourcing, HR).
  • Lead and establish an innovative approach to story development and content creation, using owned, hybrid and traditional media channels (in conjunction with the digital & social media comms manager).
  • Support communications plans and positioning for the Group Executive and leadership team, including the CEO.
  • Lead the process for the production of the Kingfisher Annual Report, including executing the process, budget and timelines, as well as the relationship with the design agency and key internal partners.
  • Coordinate the network of external communications teams across the business including in the retail banners.
  • Overall responsibility for timely, accurate media monitoring and measurement, including relationship with the relevant agency.
  • Work with the internal communications team to align communication activities and opportunities through consistent messaging. Promote the use of external communications to reach our internal audiences.
  • Take an increasingly responsible role in the formulation and implementation of issues management strategies including reactive statements.
  • Part of the plc press office function, comfortable working with national media journalists, including some out of hours working.

Skills needed to deliver my role:

  • Extensive experience in a corporate communications role for a major international listed company or communications agency with broad interests. Should include media handling experience and exposure to other communications functions.
  • Ability to develop and drive corporate communications campaigns, together with experience of creating owned content as well as earned.
  • Know-how in and experience of what drives both traditional and new forms of media; be able to think like the media and be able to foster engaging corporate and product story development.
  • Knowledge of and active experience of using social media channels to support corporate communications campaigns.
  • Experience of issues management, including working across different markets.
  • Project management experience desirable.

What can we offer you:

Competitive salary and employee benefits including:

Company bonus, annual travel allowance, award-winning pension scheme, discount at B&Q, Bupa healthcare (up to family cover).

We are passionate about our people, which is why we are committed to delivering 5 million hours of training by 2025!

This is an exciting opportunity to join our global business. In return, we provide an inspirational working environment, a competitive benefits package and opportunities to stretch and grow your career. Interested? Great, we can’t wait to hear from you!
