Position overview: 

The Copywriter is responsible for creating compelling, brand-appropriate product descriptions for Michael Kors ecommerce. The copy must inspire and educate the customer as well as the internal team, communicating the inspiration behind the brand, seasonal collections and trends. The copy must effortlessly fuse editorial content and commerce. This writer plays a key role as the point person for product copy through its entire life cycle, from early design inspiration through the fashion show, copy upload and ongoing site maintenance. They will also serve as a key part of helping to write and develop brand voice for Michael Kors Outlet marketing initiatives as this area of business continues to grow.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Write and edit product copy and style tips, as well as implement edits and feedback.
  • Inject seasonal inspiration into copy; research trends so copy reflects marketplace and cultural relevance.
  • Track all product copy throughout the editing process. Note any missing styles, late adds, and revisions. 
  • Work closely with relevant teams — ecomm, merchants, buyers — to ensure deadlines are being met.
  • Write and filter all special product copy requests from other departments (hangtags for Design, store-exclusive product, special collections, PR projects, etc. — all related to product), and act as creative team expert on product.
  • Maintain and organize information about collection/products received from early pre–fashion show inspiration through various touchpoints with designers, merchandising and marketing.
  • Review website for errors after each site refresh and make necessary updates. 
  • Serve as a point-person for product copy and help disseminate product descriptions/style information across the business, working with merchandising, PR, buying, retail training and other teams that leverage product copy.
  • Develop strong working relationship with merchants, designers, stylists and marketing to ensure copy points are on message, including product detail info.
  • Write copy/brainstorm for Michael Kors Outlet marketing initiatives and projects, including emails, in-store signage and social channels.
  • Edit and fact-check celebrity press releases for PR.



  • 2-4 years fashion copywriting or editorial writing experience, with specific experience writing product copy.
  • In-depth knowledge and passion for women’s fashion trends.
  • Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple projects and readjust priorities in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify solutions and resolve issues.
  • Team player excited to partner with colleagues across creative team.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to work on Mac and use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
