BBC Radio Scotland is committed to producing engaging content for on-air and across multi-platform.

As part of that undertaking, we are strengthening our Radio content team, however as it’s an exciting year at BBC Scotland there will be opportunities to broaden our content and extend reach to new audiences with the launch of a new TV channel and expansion of our digital services.

BBC Radio Scotland’s Speech and Topical team primarily produce radio output but also publish and manage content on Radio Scotland’s social media channels.

Reporting to a Senior Producer and Programme Lead, our Content Producers will be responsible for developing, researching and delivering fresh creative ideas for inclusion on the Kaye AdamsStephen Jardine and Shereen Programmes.  The post holder will oversee the production of live studio content.

They will also understand the importance of driving content on social media platforms daily.

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a Content Producer based in Glasgow working on the morning strands with Kaye Adams and Stephen Jardine which broadcasts Monday-Friday, 09:00-12:00, and the Saturday Shereen programme 10:00-11:30.  These are flagship programmes for BBC Radio Scotland and will require the right editorial knowledge to ensure the output is imaginative, ambitious and compelling.   

You will develop and deliver ambitious content, ensuring that it achieves the highest creative and editorial standards, delivers on time and on budget. You will have the ability to studio produce live programmes when required. 

You will thrive on consuming news across different platforms and keep up to date with current affairs on a daily basis and be core in pitching and sharing content with other platforms and departments. 

A significant part of the role is working to, and supporting, BBC Radio Scotland’s social media strategy.

You will develop and manage positive working relationships with staff, contributors and talent and be prepared to give constructive feedback.

Are you the right candidate?

Our ideal candidate will be creative and an extremely organised individual who has experience in multi-platform output.  Knowledge and passion for news and current affairs is essential.  The ability to work well with presenters and production teams, and a proven ability to deliver collaboratively, whilst demonstrating strong editorial judgement.

You’ll have a view on the department’s existing output and have a sense of how it can be improved.

You’ll know the target audience for BBC Radio Scotland, be able to identify content that will attract and grow your current audience as well as an awareness of wider BBC Scotland content.
