Mini Campaigns is BBC Education’s reactive team, responding to topical calendar moments with exciting content with the aim of driving audiences to BBC Education’s online content, including BBC Bitesize. In addition, it is the team’s role to find new ways of bringing Education’s back-catalogue to new audiences, including previous campaigns such as Starting Primary School and Fact or Fake. The team specialises in filming and editing their own content and having excellent contacts internally at the BBC as well as with external partners.

Role Responsibility:

You'll be editing content for output on social media and web, using Adobe Premiere Pro along with liaising with celebrity agents to arrange location film shoots and dealing with multiple partners internally and externally.

You'll be filming on location, either second or first camera depending on the shoot and writing shooting scripts for location films as well as scripts for talent to record or briefs for contributors.

You'll work creatively and feed into and pitch ideas for Mini Campaign, and help promote content in the department, old and new, across the BBC estate, with partners and on our own platforms.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will have excellent communication skills with solid experience in dealing with contributors, agents and external organisations. You will be able to edit clips and VTs using Adobe Premiere Pro and will be able to shoot on at least one camera. Strong time management is crucial as we often have more than one Mini Campaign running at once and you will have the experience and ability to manage your workload accordingly to deliver content to the highest standard. Experience of location filming is key, along with arranging filming permits and other location permissions.

Having a strong understanding of BBC Education and its brands would be very beneficial, as the purpose of this team is to create as much noise as possible about new and existing content within the department. Most importantly, you’ll be a team player with a can do attitude - due to the nature of our projects we need to be flexible, sometimes changing plans at short notice and responding to topical events/fast-turnaround requests. We’re a small team who reply on each to reach goals, and you’ll be supportive of your colleagues and collaborative in your approach to work.

Please note that you will only be asked to submit a CV by way of application for this vacancy, and this CV will be the sole basis on which we initially review your application. We would therefore encourage you to approach your CV as an application, and to tailor it to highlight the skills and experience which we’ve talked about in this advert. We’d love to know not only about your most relevant experience and responsibilities in previous roles, but also any achievements, transferable skills, or areas of personal or professional interest that highlight why you’d be a great candidate for this role.

We’re happy to discuss flexible working. Please indicate your choice under the flexible working question in the application. There is no obligation to raise this at the application stage but if you wish to do so, you are welcome to. Flexible working will be part of the discussion at offer stage.

  • Excellent career progression – the BBC offers great opportunities for employees to seek new challenges and work in different areas of the organisation.
  • Unrivalled training and development opportunities – our in-house Academy hosts a wide range of internal and external courses and certification.
  • Benefits- We offer a competitive salary package, a flexible 35-hour working week for work-life balance and 26 days (1 of which is a corporation day) with the option to buy an extra 5 days, a defined pension scheme and discounted dental, health care, gym and much more.

The situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak is developing quickly and the BBC is keen to continue to ensure the safety and wellbeing of people across the BBC, while continuing to protect our services. To reduce the risk access to BBC buildings is limited to those essential to our broadcast output. From Wednesday 18th March until further notice all assessments and interviews will be conducted remotely.
