Responsibilities:

  • Help define and evolve artistic direction, vision and high production standard in the creation of products within the team in direct collaboration with creative, technical and production leaders.
  • Work with a small team to conceptualize artistic style for VR experiences in line with the creative vision and audience expressed for the product.
  • Responsible for the creation of style guides and related materials for internal and external teams.
  • Work with Art Director to communicate art direction goals on an executive level and external partners.
  • Manage expectations for key stakeholders regarding the execution of quality VR experiences and content.
  • Regularly align with Art Director to define art quality standards, direct, and modify production artwork.
  • Use industry standard and proprietary tools to create content.
  • Partner with PMs and art management to plan production priorities and review production art for check in.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, user researchers, and designers to see our projects through from concept to ship and beyond.
  • Manage and build a small team of artists as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical experience in standard game engines such as Unity or Unreal and art pipelines.
  • Able to creatively supervise and drive projects from beginning to end with little assistance or supervision.
  • Ability to clearly articulate visual vision and direct team of multidisciplinary contributors, technical artists, 3D artists, etc., to arrive at the desired visual goal.
  • Ability to define and drive varied art styles, from realistic to caricature to abstract Excellent knowledge of art and visual design principles and techniques relating to character and environmental design.
  • trong understanding of game development including: art creation processes (both 2D and 3D), technology requirements and advancements, trade-offs, and challenges associated with development. 
  • Adept at problem solving (both alone and in groups), ability to evaluate creative challenges and provide credible and achievable solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines and expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Proficient in industry standard art tools such as Photoshop, Maya, Modo, Zbrush or similar.
  • Portfolio demonstrating a keen interest in games and/or VR.
  • Proven industry experience in games or other 3D interactive media, VR development experience is a plus.
  • Shipped at least two titles as an Art Director or a Lead Artist in charge of significant aspect of visual development.
