As an Art Director in the Brand Innovation Lab (BIL) team, you will be leading one-of-a-kind campaigns for a wide range of global brands from creative brief to launch. You'll work with a team of creative directors, senior art directors, copywriters, designers, program managers, and content producers to create innovative work by coming up with campaign ideas using the Amazon’s canvas (i.e. Alexa, Twitch, IMDb, Prime Video). You'll lead projects and own client relationships, focusing on creating work that benefits the end customer while pushing the creative envelope.

In this role, you will craft high-level creative strategies that solve business needs, think across Amazon platforms and beyond, manage complex projects, and create tailored content across channels driving the marketing objectives of advertisers. You will effectively communicate with key stakeholders (including Alexa, Twitch, Amazon Studios, and other Amazon internal partners), and external media and creative agencies. You will work with senior leadership to create processes and establish best practices that impact the broader department. And finally, you will work towards preserving the team culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation, inspiration, and foster positive internal and agency relationships.

Key job responsibilities:
The following are key responsibilities of the Art Director:

  • Create creative concepts, UI design, motion ideas, and designs for innovative advertising experiences for global brands.
  • Create customer centered campaign executions by integrating marketing objectives, target audience, creative assets, Amazon design and motion patterns into intuitive solutions.
  • Independently lead campaign executions and collaborate with EU design teams.
  • Create on-brand design solutions for all Amazon owned and operated channels that meet measurable business goals.
  • Partner with and/or lead senior art directors, copywriters, designers, program managers, developers, and content producers to create customer-focused solutions that deliver on advertiser objectives
  • Deliver high-quality look and feel and designs for campaigns across different Amazon touch-points.
  • Synthesize strategic research and/or data to develop campaign ideas.
  • Make creative trade-off decisions between teams, clients, and end-customer needs.
  • Measure and evaluate current processes within the department and improve them through documentation.

A day in the life:

  • Designing a trivia experience for a brand using Prime Video titles.
  • Translating campaign ideas into engaging presentation decks.
  • Innovating to create ‘never been done before’ creative ideas.
  • Using your UX/UI experience to wireframe and prototype your planned customer experience.
  • Presenting a campaign to brand clients and their partner media agency.
  • Writing documentation to improve creative processes.

About the team:
The BIL team is an internal, international group within Amazon Advertising that creates one-of-a-kind campaigns and activations for global brands. Using all of the different platforms within Amazon (i.e. Alexa, Twitch, IMDb, Prime Video), we create campaigns that reach millions of Amazon customers across our digital channels and out in the real world. The Amazon EU BIL EntHos team works across a variety of clients in the Entertainment and Hospitality industries.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in advertising, digital media, marketing.
  • Proven experience in art direction / design / communications experience at advertising agencies and/or in-house creative departments
  • An online creative portfolio demonstrating art direction, design, and conceptual thinking skill-set. Strong portfolio demonstrating creative thinking and process, visual design skills, and interactive/digital advertising experiences that solve for a customer/business problem.
  • Experience in conceptually developing and launching successful advertising/marketing campaigns.
  • In-depth understanding of industry design tools (Ex. Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, InVision)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience managing projects in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to prioritize various tasks effectively to meet even challenging deadlines.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and with a wide range of employees with different skill sets.
  • Adaptable and quick to learn new processes and tools, demonstrating strong technical/operational capabilities.
  • Excellent presentation skills and interactive storytelling ability.
  • Self-directed, goal-oriented and flexible, enjoying working in a fast-paced and at times ambiguous environment.
  • Understanding of technical integration of ideas, and the ability to build relationships with development roles and designers.
  • Proficiency in English.
