The role of Art Department Producer is an exciting opportunity to be the face of DNEG’s Art Department and is responsible for identifying and securing new business. In this role, you will utilise existing industry contacts and knowledge of client-side production to raise the profile of DNEG Art, and position DNEG as the obvious choice for any production’s art requirements from pre-production through to VFX delivery in all design capacities.

You will oversee the expansion of our Art Department in support of the global company vision and sales targets. You will be the driving force in ensuring DNEG is competitive within the market in financial terms, quality of work and technical proficiencies. You will work closely with the Global Head of Art to raise the profile of the Art Department within the internal workings of DNEG, to ensure that the full potential and benefit of Art is being properly utilised in all other areas of the business. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with Department Production Manager to ensure the smooth planning and delivery of all Art Department work to internal and external clients.
  • Working with the Global Head of Art Department to ensure working methodologies of the Art team are streamlined and able to be easily ingested and in line with future VFX production to ensure efficiency in Design, Build, Layout, Animation, Environment teams.
  • Responsible for the creation and tailoring of project-specific packages and tracking and communication of financials throughout a project, both internally and to clients.
  • Working in collaboration with the Global Head of Art and other HODs to define and implement processes including bidding guides and templates, communication between locations, departments and projects.
  • Introducing regular and robust procedures for the reviewing and approval of work, and ensuring that the Global Head of Art Department (or VFX Art Directors if applicable) are supported and scheduled appropriately to ensure they maintain quality control of all work and briefs.
  • Working with the Department Production Manager to establish efficient projecting and tracking of work through the use of shotgun and the company schedule systems.
  • Ensuring the department's technical processes and workflow keep pace with client requirements, speed and budgeting to provide a competitive service for all areas of production.
  • Responsible for department crew recourse management and working closely with our global Talent Acquisition team to secure world-class talent for the department.
  • The main point of contact for clients, in conjunction with a project VFX Producer where applicable, to ensure effective communication of bids, schedules, financials, delivery and feedback.
  • Establishing clear and direct lines of communication between the Art departments and clients to allow for faster turnaround of work and approvals.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure work is created in line with project budgets.
  • Ensuring consistency of production scheduling and workflows with other departments and updating were required to conform with the working practices of DNEG.
  • To liaise with Marketing and Communications Department regarding clearances, permissions and publication of all work.
  • Ensuring updated publishing processes have implemented that complement the working and archival practices of both the Art Department and Show and/or Department working practices.
  • Utilising practices to ensure all work is published and tracked using Shotgun and other internal systems.
  • Creating and maintaining a new Art Department archive in Shotgun so all past, current and future work can be easily categorised and is accessible.
  • Effectively communicating the creation of the archive to all relevant internal Production crew.
  • Working closely with Production Managers and Coordinators to ensure effective archiving of past design work in Shotgun.

Must Have:

  • Proven production experience either client-side or in house at a high-end VFX or Animation studio.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Expertise in building effective working relationships and communicating with internal and external clients.
  • High-level knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Minimum education of Diploma level or equivalent.
