Overview:
Our technical animator will collaborate closely with our CGI artists and interior designers to produce high-quality technical animations and illustrations for our Envizion (CGI for built environment) and Provizion (CGI for product) departments. In Provizion, you’ll create instructional installation videos and animated lifestyle shots, while Envizion projects will involve property videos and flythroughs, and interactive environments using Unreal Engine.
Reporting to the Associate Art Director, your role encompasses the planning, storyboarding, modelling, texturing, animating, lighting, and rendering of photorealistic CGI content.
Leadership responsibilities within the visualisation team may be required to support the ongoing growth of the team. Our technical animator will own a portfolio and their skill set will reflect a diverse range of animated and interactive visualisation content across various sectors, including residential architecture, product and brand design, and instructional assembly demonstrations.
Being passionate about animation, they possess a keen eye for detail, ensuring each animation surpasses client expectations with pixel-perfect precision and creativity.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience using 3DS Max with Corona and/or Vray rendering to create realistic animated videos and bringing life to inanimate objects.
- Experience with water simulation plugins such as Phoenix.
- Confident using post-production software to enhance your renders into truly photorealistic videos.
- Adept in the process of importing models into Unreal Engine using those models to create realistic environments.
- Experience producing animated and still photorealistic imagery.
- Storyboarding and pre-viz presentation skills.
- Passionate for detail, with an eye for bringing energy into images and animations.
- Ability to understand and interpret architectural drawings, models and concepts.
- Demonstrate the ability to achieve high-quality outputs in various media communication forms from across the Adobe package.
- Experienced in producing a range of finished work to various artistic styles and outputs.
- Pixel-perfect eye for detail.
- An interest in art/architecture and an understanding of design principles, composition and colour theory.
- Ability to prioritise tasks appropriately, managing your time effectively and independently.
- Outstanding verbal skills which enable you to describe your own work clearly and effectively both to in-house and external clients and stakeholders.
- Comfortable using a variety of means to communicate including telephone, email, presentations and video conferencing.
- Able to listen effectively, to understand what is required, asking questions where relevant.
- Diligent at recording information and keeping records of information and requests.
- Responding fully, accurately and in a timely fashion to tasks appointed.
- Make simple but effective presentations in-house as required.

Desirable:
- 3+ years professional experience in a fast- paced commercial environment.
- Knowledge of how to create animations and interactivity within Unreal Engine using blueprints.
- Compositing and motion tracking experience.
- Interactive content production experience.
Responsibilities:
As a key member of our CGI production team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to
- Independently modelling and lighting interior 3D scenes from scratch, using CAD drawings and interior design references to ensure accuracy and realism.
- Pre-visualising, producing, and finalising animations for our existing clients across the Provizion and Envizion sectors. This includes animating camera movements, object interactions, and any other elements necessary to bring the scenes to life.
- Creating realistic and detailed 3D models of physical products based on samples and references provided.
- Creating characterful assembly and instructional animations of seemingly inanimate products to bring life and fun to an otherwise procedural video.
- Collaborating closely with CGI artists, designers, and project managers to ensure animations align with project goals and client expectations. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for successful project outcomes.
- Conducting quality assurance reviews to ensure animations meet the desired standards of realism, accuracy, and creativity. This includes revising animations based on client feedback and internal reviews.
- Managing project timelines, milestones, and client feedback throughout the animation production process, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Interview Process:
There will be a 3 stage process for all shortlisted applications; Firstly a phone call from our Associate Art Director or MD, followed by an in person interview at our Bath office and finally, a short test animation project which can be completed on our premises as part of your interview or remotely if you prefer.
