Concept
Data Cityscape is a large-scale light installation commissioned by Université Grenoble Alpes. The project transforms the everyday activity of the campus into a constantly evolving light composition, making normally invisible data perceptible at an architectural scale.

Execution
The installation was integrated into the architecture of the university campus, using approximately 325 metres of RGB LED lighting distributed across five large-scale forms. A real-time system developed in TouchDesigner monitored live campus data, including electricity consumption and internet traffic, and translated it into changes in colour, rhythm and movement.

Rather than playing a predefined animation, the installation continuously responded to the activity of the university. The visual behaviour therefore changed throughout the day according to what was actually happening on campus.

Exhibition
Commissioned by Université Grenoble Alpes and presented in Grenoble as part of Experimenta, Data Cityscape remained installed in the public space for six months.

Result
The project brought together creative direction, generative design, real-time data and architectural lighting in a single public installation, turning the campus itself into the input of the artwork.
