Big Barn Farm tells the story of four farmyard animals who are all friends – and who can all speak. In order to achieve the visual effects of the talking animals, James animated CG models of the animals mouths over the live action footage, keyframe animating so that the mouth lipsync matched the audio. The mouths were then tracked over the shot so that they matched the position and rotation of the animals heads on the filmed plates.

After rendering, these were then composited over the plates using After Effects and a sequence of masks.

The series was aired on the CBeebies TV channel in the UK in 2010.
