“American Mariachi” is the story of a group women who want to become the first all-female Mariachi band. This, of course, goes against tradition and causes a controversy amongst their families and community. The client (Arizona Theatre Company) envisioned the art having a strong central focus with perhaps some additional elements montaged around it. The members of the Mariachi band are the main focus. There are five women in the group, but at the end I just focus on one with the others smaller. The shapes of the instruments and the shapes of the women intersect in a whole composition.
