SpY installs a moon in the sky over Lausanne

Published by

One of the downsides of city life is not being able to marvel at a clear, starry night. Luckily urban artist SpY has solved this inconvenience by installing an enormous, illuminated crescent moon over the city of Lausanne in Switzerland.

By day the moon looks ghostly and sad, much like the ghost of the moon you can sometimes see in a blue sky, but come nightfall, one of SpY's assistants flips the switch and it proudly glows away, stealing all the attention away from the real moon who must be looking on with contempt.

SpY is an urban artist whose first came onto the scene in the mid-eighties as a well-respected graffiti artist. Shortly after he began exploring other mediums by which to communicate his ideas on urban reality.

*

He observes a city carefully and appreciates all of its components, all of which are potential ideas for new works of art.

SpY's pieces raise a smile, inspire reflection and add those special moments to city dwellers day, a pause for thought amongst the chaos.
