ABOUT

This was a commission for a private client looking for unique prints for cushions and/or wallpaper. Their brief included that:
- colours needed to accompany or compliment their new futon sofa
- they would like the design to feature Ferns, Eucalyptus and Wax Flower

I sent them a mood board of 'Garden', 'Jungle', 'Botanical' themed prints already on the market and asked for their feedback on these. Their responses told me that they liked a busy but structured style and detail within it. They preferred the logical colour schemes in keeping with nature rather than an abstract take.

I created a hero print and two secondary prints using some of the same elements and including a new element to add depth (one of which was shown in two background colours). As there was scope for using more than one print in the room I included coordinating prints in different background colours to complement the primary prints and allow them to visualise some pairings without being overloaded. I also included a photo of the Futon fabric sample that they sent to me for comparison as well as a colour palette should they wish to match other fabrics to these prints.

They chose the hero print JWD440 on the feature wall complemented with Farrow and Ball 'Thinking Room Pink' (similar to 'Wax Flower' in my colour palate). We then scaled up the Wax Flower print of JWD443 on a darker background of 'Established Rose' (my colour palate) for one cushion and the Fern Outline print of JWD447 on 'Woodland Mist' for the other.
