Hello -
I am writing to apply for the Content Writer role that is currently available in Manchester. Please find enclosed my CV for your consideration. There are a number of reasons why I feel I am ideal for this position. Firstly, I have both a first class undergraduate degree and a postgraduate degree in a strongly writing-based discipline. As such, I am an extremely well-organised, motivated individual with excellent communication skills - both written and verbal. Following graduation, I became a Research Assistant in the field of health psychology. Within this role I produced publishable manuscripts, informative reports and engaging, persuasive content for research posters. These posters were presented at conferences worldwide, and were always well-received by a diverse range of clients.
For a number of years, I have assisted a Graphic Designer to create unique content and proofread copy for websites, leaflets and posters. This has allowed the development of strong copywriting skills and the ability to adapt my writing style to suit different audiences. I also currently work as a Freelance Journalist for CelebMix, a website that provides daily celebrity news. This involves regularly producing SEO-friendly news pieces and features, and has provided the perfect opportunity to publish my work and further develop my writing skills in a professional environment. With a keen interest in knitting, I have a blog and Facebook page that record each of my knitting projects in an inspiring and engaging manner. I update both of these regularly, and thus have a deep understanding and awareness of social media.
Collectively, these experiences have made me a conscientious and enthusiastic individual, capable of working as part of a team and independently to a very high standard. I am able to take the initiative and meet tight deadlines. I have outstanding writing ability, previous experience of writing digital and online content, and a passion for producing engaging copy. With this in mind, I believe I am highly suitable for the Content Writer position. I am looking for a new challenge; something that provides an opportunity to learn and improve my skills, and progress my career as a writer.
