for this Cruise collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by Puglia, the region in the southeast of Italy her family originates from. The collection paid homage to local women, nature, craftsmanship and traditions and was staged in a sumptuous light installation in the center of Lecce. Local dancers surrounded the models and performed the ancient ritual Pizzica dance. This dance is traditionally performed by the women of Puglia and starts with a spider’s bite that leads to a cathartic performance, meant to cure personal fears and frustrations.

Lean Lui, a 21-year-old artist and photographer from Hong Kong, captures and translates the essence of Maria Grazia Chiuri’s ode to Puglia in a series of emotional and dream-like images.
