I'd decided to base the design for the project on nature as there an many research papers which promote improved health properties, the emphasis was also to create an mental health interior which would reflect a hotel like environment and not a typical high secuirty mental health unit interior that other providers currently have.

The building still required to be safe for its users and alot of the off the shelf items didn't lend themselves to the hotel like brief as we had a requirement for antiligature furniture, so I designed my own integrated furniture.

Our final project had people recovering in record time, on average a single person occupys a room at the centre for 2 years, at this site, they only stayed weeks. Proving that the design theory truly worked for recovering patients. People from all over the world have come to visit the building so they too can implement the same principles in their designs. The design won an RIBA for best Interior Architecture
