About me

I graduated the University of Sheffield in 2005 with an upper second class Journalism degree and a mind set on a career in magazines. During this course I passed the NCTJ Public Affairs, Media Law and Shorthand exams. Over the past 14 months I have been travelling the world with my primary destination being Australia. Whilst in the Land Down Under I undertook work experience at Cosmopolitan magazine and Marie Claire magazine. Other placements in the UK include More magazine, Smash Hits magazine and the Sheffield Star newspaper.

I believe these work placements have given me a strong understanding of the magazine industry and I am now very familiar with the responsibilities involved in ensuring the smooth production of a publication. I understand that organisation is a key-skill a creative media position and I consider myself to be a capable multi-tasker. In 2002 I created and edited my high school's year book. This involved inventing and designing the pages, typing up 110 student profiles, arranging a photo shoot, finding a publisher, and meeting all deadlines.

I feel now that I am capable and ready to face the challenges of creating/writing new ideas for a title, building relationships with PR and advertising companies, and assisting wherever possible in other departments.
