Dear Sir / Madam,
I am writing to apply for the position of Studio Assistant. I have recently relocated to Manchester and am looking for a full time, creative position in which I can express my enthusiasm for creative design whilst continuing to expand my skill set.
Through completing my degree in Photography, I gained significant experience thoroughly researching practitioners and art theory for the purpose of critical writing and consequently gained a high first class grade for my final year academic dissertation. This not only required an exceptional capacity for writing and editing but also a high level of organisation and planning to meet strict deadlines whilst also working to complete separate projects. Consequently, I have a strong desire to work within a creative team that allows me to work flexibly and efficiently on a number of tasks at one time.
In 2013 I volunteered to assist in the coordination of the LOOK/13 International Photography Festival and was soon promoted to an intern position, based primarily in the Open Eye Gallery office in Liverpool. This involved extensive arts specific admin duties such as proofreading online content and creating original imagery and writing for the blog and newsletter, which required me to work to a strict deadline and utilise my strong attention to detail. In addition, my role required extensive marketing through the use of social media to promote the festival.
My years of providing exceptional customer care in various service roles have made me incredibly customer focused and have reinforced my already excellent communication skills. I am very flexible in my working approach and have experience successfully working within a variety of team dynamics. In applying for this role, I believe that I can offer practical experience mixed with an academic background and desire to work on a range of exciting projects.
