About me

Jennifer Essex is a contemporary choreographer who works in dance, theatre, film, and outdoor work. She was the choreographer for James Gardner's most recent short film, Two Dancers. Other film work has included Helioscope (Vessels), FootBall (Hermes), Anna Karenina (Working Title Films), and Les Miserables (Working Title Films).

Jennifer was the dance captain for Ben Hur Live, an arena spectacular that toured across Europe. She has worked with several notable European choreographers including, Liam Steel, Luca Silvestrini, Gary Clarke, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

This summer Jennifer was selected as one of four choreographers to work in residence at the National Choreographic Centre with mentor Kim Brandstrup.

Originally from Canada, Jennifer was a member of Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers for five years, choreographing and performing across North America. She is the recipient of multiple awards from the Canada, Manitoba and Winnipeg Arts Councils.
