ABOUT

Statues and other works of art in pharmaceutical company reception areas all over the world predictably revolve around the theme of Asclepius, the Greco-Roman god of medicine who was also the son of Apollo, the god of healing, truth and prophecy.
Because Asclepius is frequently represented standing and holding a staff with a serpent coiled around it, damaged sections of ancient statues, often consisting only of two feet and the base of a staff (of which there are many), attract high prices at auction, irrespective of whether they are of Asclepius or not.
One healthcare client, in an attempt to buck this trend, asked for some alternative ideas for a statue that instead captured the idea of the 'human spirit'.
This was my suggestion, rendered in 3D, but intended to be created from twisted wrought iron sections (the company was also involved in mining iron ore).
Needless to say, the board of directors ditched my idea and decided to bid on some old statue consisting of two feet and the broken end of a staff.
You can't win 'em all.
