ABOUT
BACKGROUND & BRIEF
Inspired by ancient techniques, Cathy devised a way to activate nuts and seeds, making them easier to digest. From the outset, the vision was to build a flavour-led mainstream challenger that champions healthier snacking.
Our founding thought of ‘game-changing goodness’ inspired the name and bold visual identity. Since then, we’ve worked closely with Cathy and her team to evolve the brand towards digestive health, now captured in the idea of ‘Gut Happy Snacking’ – a simple, emotive platform connecting functional benefits, from activated grains and high fibre, with an engaging consumer promise.
As Boundless gained more listings, its shelf impact was undeniable. However, we needed to better communicate the brand’s reasons to believe. Our brief was to evolve the packaging to clearly explain what makes Boundless ‘gut happy’.
CREATIVE SOLUTION
Balancing taste and health has always been a central design challenge. We adopted an iterative consumer testing approach to refine both design and messaging.
In contrast to the early years, high fibre is now firmly in the spotlight, with benefits more widely understood. Testing confirmed it as a key motivator, alongside natural ingredients and clearer flavour cues.
From the beginning, the identity has featured fierce-looking masks inspired by the origins of nut and seed ‘activation’ techniques used by First Nations’ people. These masks symbolise transformation between physical and spiritual states – a metaphor for Boundless itself, balancing health and enjoyment. As a distinctive brand asset, it was important they retained prominence on-pack whilst creating more space for key messages. Each mask was also refined to reflect real, recognisable ingredients and flavours.
RESULTS
Since the rebrand in late 2025, Boundless has become the UK’s fastest-growing snack brand, growing at 1.6 times the rate of its closest competitor and rapidly expanding distribution. (NIQ Oct–Dec 2025)
