ABOUT

On 12 August, something is going to happen that Spain hasn’t seen since 1905: a total solar eclipse. 84 seconds of darkness in broad daylight.

And right now, as you’re reading this, in more than one agency, someone is writing an internal email: “Eclipse 2026 Opportunity. Ideas welcome.”

I’ve decided to get a head start. No briefing, no budget and no client. Instead of knocking on a brand’s door with a portfolio, I’ve chosen to approach them with a ready-made idea. That’s how this little project for Cervezas Ambar, part of Grupo AGORA, came about.

It all started with a simple question: What does a brand do on the day the whole world looks up at the sky above its city?

My answer: a get-together on the banks of the Ebro, with El Pilar in the background, the Sun hiding behind the Moon and hundreds of people raising a toast during the exact 84 seconds that totality lasts.

To create the image, I used Nano Banana 2, the new generative layer in Google Earth. It’s not a fantasy render or a ‘pretty eclipse’ prompt: I worked using the actual coordinates of the Puente de Piedra in Zaragoza, adhering to the exact astronomical trajectory. The position of the Sun, the angle of the corona and the projection onto the basilica aren’t decorative; they’re mapped onto the real geospatial environment. Technology handles the technical side of things. But the idea and the decision to launch just when the stars align over Zaragoza come from a person.

I chose Ambar because this year it has once again been voted the World’s Best Beer with a score of 100 out of 100. That’s the sort of thing that makes advertising a pleasure.

If the team at Cervezas Ambar sees this, there’s still time to refine the visuals, finalise the legal text and turn this into a proper campaign.

And if you work for another brand and want to plan your next big moment with strategy, creativity and technology without losing sight of what really matters, I’d be delighted to brainstorm the next one with you.
