ABOUT

These are called "spinner verbs," gerunds Claude shows in place of a plain "loading..." while generating a response, a design choice meant to make the wait feel like something happening in the room with you rather than a static delay. The most solid part of what I found is Claude Code's list (the terminal coding tool), pulled straight out of the client code by more than one person independently, and their extractions largely agree with each other. I'm leaving two things out on purpose: a GitHub feature request where someone invented example words as a hypothetical customization suggestion, those were never realproduct text, they were the issue author's own made-up examples, and a fan project that explicitly built a curated list of over 3,400 spinner verbs across 112 themed categories, a deliberate creative extension, not something extracted from the actual product.

Core list, confirmed by at least two independent extractions (88 words):
Accomplishing, Actioning, Actualizing, Baking, Booping, Brewing, Calculating, Cerebrating, Channelling, Churning, Clauding, Coalescing, Cogitating, Combobulating, Computing, Concocting, Conjuring, Considering, Contemplating, Cooking, Crafting, Creating, Crunching, Deciphering, Deliberating, Determining, Discombobulating, Divining, Doing, Effecting, Elucidating, Enchanting, Envisioning, Finagling, Flibbertigibbeting, Forging, Forming, Frolicking, Generating, Germinating, Hatching, Herding, Honking, Hustling, Ideating, Imagining, Incubating, Inferring, Jiving, Manifesting, Marinating, Meandering, Moseying, Mulling, Musing, Mustering, Noodling, Percolating, Perusing, Philosophising, Pondering, Pontificating, Processing, Puttering, Puzzling, Reticulating, Ruminating, Scheming, Schlepping, Shimmying, Shucking, Simmering, Smooshing, Spelunking, Spinning, Stewing, Sussing, Synthesizing, Thinking, Tinkering, Transmuting, Unfurling, Unravelling, Vibing, Wandering, Whirring, Wibbling, Working.

Roughly, they cluster into thinking words (Cogitating, Pondering, Ruminating, Musing), kitchen words (Brewing, Simmering, Stewing, Marinating), movement words (Wandering, Meandering, Shimmying, Spinning), and pure nonsense (Flibbertigibbeting, Combobulating, Wibbling, Clauding).

Seen in only one source, so lower confidence (worth knowing, not double-checked):

Bloviating, Crystallizing, Untangling, Wrangling, Assembling, Distilling, Weaving, Interrogating, Calibrating, Orchestrating, Choreographing, Waltzing, Sprinkling, Whisking, Lollygagging, Moonwalking, Canoodling, Dilly-dallying, Architecting, Bootstrapping, Cascading, Composing, Cultivating, Garnishing, Grooving, Harmonizing

One more reminder on the caveat from before: all of this is Claude Code's confirmed vocabulary, not a verified Claude chat list, so treat it as the closest evidence available rather than a guarantee.
