Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to apply for the post of Specialist Translator in Shanghai. I am confident that my past translation and interpreting experience will be a helpful asset of your company and my relevant academic foundation also makes me more suitable to claim for this position.
As you will see in my CV, I am the Master student for Chinese-English translation and interpreting. I have developed excellent oral and written bilingual skill. I started to translate English interview script for school newspaper when I was in the University in Taiwan. I also assisted the communication between foreign guest and school members during the school anniversary. This valuable experience has greatly furnished me with a beneficial grounding for the development of my bilingual skills. After graduating from the university, I worked in a retail store in Taiwan. My job included helping the communication between local Taiwanese staff and foreign customers. These practical experiences gave the chance to have a glimpse into the working lives of an interpreter/translator. I decided to come to UK to master my knowledge about translation and interpreting.
After coming to UK, I have learned more about interpreting and translation on the class. Each class we need to deal with different topic: medical, business, art, etc. Being one of the six students who are qualified to enter the simultaneous interpreting module, I enjoy every challenge and satisfaction in each performance. Having achieved the top mark in both interpreting modules gives me a lot of encourage for continuing this translation career.
In addition, my job as an Administrative Assistant including deal with alumni request and services. The job in the retail store gave me the opportunity to know how to interact with customer and handle different situations.
