We were asked by Norwegian Grammy winners Årabrot to design the artwork for their new album 'Of Darkness And Light'. Using the logo I'd recently produced for them and with the stunning photography of Pål M. Laukli, we created a full set of designs for CD, vinyl, cassette as well as four single covers.

The set of images created by Pål M. Laukli / Laukli & Laukli were so striking and also used a very unique technique of infrared photography, they became the real backbone of the whole project, everything radiated around them. The design, typography, layout and composition were all structured around the pictures as the narrative was so heavily ingrained within them. So a respectful and open presentation was created to give the images the platform they deserve but also allow them to tell the story they were created to do.

The typography was a unique set of lettering created using the wonderful Arthemys font from Morgane Vantorre. Using the flowing, almost religious letter forms to breakdown negative spaces and forge relationships within the album title, we highlighted the tight bond between the cover stars and to also underline the themes of the music itself. The title 'Of Darkness And Light' was represented within the typography by a dark circle symbolising an eclipsed sun and the starburst to show the sun. These were then combined into a single symbol as a hero icon for the album title and was used throughout the artwork.
