ABOUT

The Kinship is a limited edition collection of six single cask strength Islay whiskies, meticulously selected and bottled by Hunter Laing & Co. to pay tribute to the Whisky Isle’s brotherhood of distilleries and celebrate its newest and ninth, Ardnahoe.

Our creative approach began with the Ardnahoe brand truth: creating the finest whisky in the most stunning distillery by the most ingenious people. With the location of the distillery being fundamental to the brand story – breath-taking views of the Sound of Islay and the Paps of Jura, with the islands of Colonsay and Mull just visible on the horizon – we created a mono-line tapestry of abstract illustrations interpreting this truly inspirational and enchanting landscape.

The bottle labels pay homage to Islay’s heritage and the age-old Scotch whisky production process, each embodying the expression’s tasting notes. Each refreshingly modern label illustrates a stage in this process, from growing the grain to bottling the spirit. Detailed embossing, bold colours, shining gold foil and a magnificent bottle silhouette add a sense of unapologetic pride and confidence to the range; reflecting the forward thinking mindset and pioneering spirit of Ardnahoe.

To complete the packaging and story of the collection, and making reference to the natural cloth once in prolific use, a drawstring jute bag adorned in the bespoke Ardnahoe landscape illustration encases each bottle with humble elegance.

Each expression from The Kinship was sampled during a bespoke tasting experience at the Islay Whisky Festival where the bottles could be purchased and the Ardnahoe brand and conception was introduced. They were designed to create a stir prior to the event, harness the excitement of the guests during the festival and provide a lasting memory of the experience and the brand; a result that fits seamlessly into the kinship of Islay whisky families.
