ABOUT

Luis de Góngora (born 11th July 1561 and died 24th May 1627) was a poet misunderstood and underappreciated poet of his time. Góngora was a poet of the aesthetic experience. He was considered mad during his time and attacked verbally by his closest rivals, Lope de Vega and Quevedo, because Góngora eschewed the established style of poetry of Gacilaso, in favour of striding in his own unique direction.

My video essay explores sensual power of Soledades' poetry, Gongora's unfinished Baroque masterpiece by Luis de Góngora.

Combining historical insight, lyrical commentary, and baroque visual texture, it traces how Soledades anticipates modernist poetics, as a pure poetry of an immersion of images and aesthetic transformation.
