ABOUT

Native American father drafted for war. When the base is attacked, he's presumed dead, but was rescued by an Earth species that had evolved long before humans. History is full of these sightings, but only when humans developed flight did they come into contact. Father and daughter try to reconnect, whilst a global conflict plays out.

The concept is what if there was a species that evolved to intelligent life much earlier than humanity. That was already far ahead of humanity, but there aren't as many, and its to their advantage not to be discovered. So they co-existed with humanity on Earth above the land. And they've been watching humanity the whole time because they're already sophisticated enough to have been interplanetary. And it wasn't until humanity developed flight that humanity encountered them. That happened during World War 2, and the vices of humanity prevail over the virtues.

The title refers to the idea of a non-human species having written about us, because we didn't make it. What would their view of us be? They would write about us as we write about the natural world, with objectivity. Humanity is just a group of animals behaving together. How we treat each other. How we behave. They wouldn't talk about us through our emotions and private aspirations, or the ego of our intellectual capacity and all our subjective drama. They would look at how we behave communally. How we are together, not how we are individually. This was a way of looking at the terrible things that we do and the wonderful things that we do.

Maybe we need to see ourselves more objectively to see how we're treating each other. To step outside of our own subjective view of ourselves and see ourselves as humanity. Recognising the community of humanity that we are a part of. Not seeing ourselves in polarity as dog-eat-dog individuals. Why do anything? Because of the connections we have with each other. Because of the people who are important to us. Because we want their world to be better too. Choosing love.

This is an entirely AI generated trailer. Except that it was manually imagined and edited. There were also sfx of planes that were not AI generated. What I love about AI is that it is the imagination manifest. This is a new ways of communicating and sharing stories with each other.

This is the trailer I created and submitted to Curious Refuge's AI Film Trailer Competition 2024. I heard about Curious Refuge's trailer competition very late so I had seven days from hearing about the competition, thinking of an idea, creating the images and sounds, and putting it all together to submit this.

In the future, I may upload a reworked version, that has the sound corrected for example. For the time being, I've added subtitles to assist.

Hope you enjoy. Thanks. Be good to each other.
