James' work

My name is James Stanton and I am 27 years old. In 2008 I graduated from the university of wales, Newport BA (hons) Film and Video course with a 2:1 degree. I won several awards for the projects i worked on while at university and went on to set up a production company based in Bristol. I worked on various kinds of projects including a film commissioned by the national museum of wales in Cardiff as part of their origins exhibition. I also provided video projection for live events in Brighton and London as well as Bristol.

I have always been a creative person but I also excel at any computer related skill. At university i was able to master several different kinds of software, adobe premiere, after effects, photoshop, illustrator, final cut etc. Film editing, motion graphics, music production and sound design all came naturally to me while at university. After university I was able to teach myself various live video mixing programmes, which combined my creative flair with technical knowhow to create exciting visual accompaniment to musical acts.

I decided to add to my skill set by studying IT and web design in particular. I found that this provided the perfect opportunity to combine my creativity and my enthusiasm for technology, without the need for expensive equipment such as HD cameras and video mixers. The skills I have acquired are HTML, CSS, and XML among others.

I'm currently freelancing as a video editor/motion graphics designer and vfx artist on low budget films and have begun to learn cinema 4d. I would like to gain more skills, especially camera, cinematography, lighting and develop my existing skill set.
