ABOUT

For this brief I was tasked to create typography that the shopping community in Chester would find interesting. I thought that it would be a great idea to show the public that type isn’t dull; there’s more than just Times new Roman, and typography can represent a word or phrase. I decided to create type that would only appear in certain conditions; for example I would use water-proof paint to show type in the rain. Each weather condition has a unique typeface that suits it; for example because rain falls at an angle Georgia Italic would be used. Instead of just having a word to describe the weather I used song lyric’s; I used these because the community will know them, the lyrics relate to the weather, and they are more interesting than a single word. These will be placed around Chester, in and around the main streets, and advertised through booklets found in information centres. This concept will also have an online presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and its own website; people using social media can share what they see to people outside of Chester.
