ABOUT

One project for the typography module was a group project; this involved each of us creating a 3D letter, mine being the N. Before we were told what we were doing, we were shown a selection of typefaces and asked to pick one, as the typeface was unique and very stylised we picked it. If we had known what we were doing we would have probably picked a more simple sans serif typeface because it would have been easier to cut, but instead we picked the hardest one to do; this was because it had serifs and lots of curves making it very awkward to cut by hand. The most difficult parts of making it was cutting the two sides so they were identical, aligning them perfectly so they fitted together, and using gum tape to glue everything together. Once we had completed the letters we arranged them to spell different words; “Festina” being a Czech word, “Fantaisies” being French, and “Fientas” being Spanish. I really like these because I haven’t seen a typeface like it before, we made them by hand, and we worked as a team to get all of the letters finished in time.
