ABOUT

Recently I was commissioned to design a logo for a new accountancy business called Accounts Afloat; my client was setting up his new business and lived on a canal boat so he wanted the business name to highlight this. Very early on it was decided that the logo needed to incorporate something that related to a canal boat; so we decided to invert the A like a boat keel/hull. After sketching out many different ideas, I selected a few and digitised them, and then we decided on the logo you see above. The colour and the typeface represent water; the font Century Gothic Italic was chosen because it looks professional, retro, it suits the business, and it falls at an angle like water. What I like about the logo is that it suits the business, it looks professional and friendly, it is simple, and it is unique. I also really like the two A’s; this is because they could be used as a brand mark on there own, and they connect together nicely.
