Dear Sirs,
In response to your advertisement found online at ‘creativepool.co.uk' dated Tuesday 26th October 2010, I would like to apply for the position of Graphic Designer.
In November 2009 I graduated from the University of the West of England, Bristol after completing a three year bachelor degree in Creative Product Design. After finding out about your company I was intrigued and quickly realised your organisation could be somewhere I could begin my career in the design industry.
During my studies I was able to develop my skills and I am now a confident user of the Adobe Suite and all CS programs. I have good drawing skills, with excellent presentation and communication attributes to convey my ideas and thoughts. During my time at University I was part of the design exhibition team and worked with tutors, fellow students and external designers for our final year design show in Bristol. This included the design of logos, graphics, branding and the physical construction of the exhibition stand itself.
Since finishing my studies I have spent the past six months travelling around the world gaining a firsthand insight into the different cultures around the world. During these travels I did some voluntary teaching of Burmese refugees in a school in Thailand. My travels have given me a different perspective on life as I have witnessed extreme wealth and austere poverty. Prior to the trip I developed my organisational skills to prepare for the experience; By organising relevant injections, earning adequate funding and researching in order to book and set out travelling. Travelling alone, I have gained other skills such as budgeting and money management so I was able to carry out my six month venture and also I know feel a more confident person as I had to meet new people on a daily basis.
I am an enthusiastic and innovative individual who is keen to make progress in life. I enjoy challenges and am an exceptionally determined and confident person. I ama well-motivated and energetic individual who possesses good interpersonal skills. I have the ability to participate effectively into teamwork and use own initiative when required. I am a flexible individual who enjoys the challenges of meeting deadlines and targets.
I thoroughly enjoyed my three year study into all aspects of design. When I speak to fellow creative graduates who now work in a design environment, it is clear to me that this is the vocation I wish to pursue. My passion for design started in my school days and has only grown through University and also whilst travelling.
