ABOUT
The owners of Vanilalá wanted their chic beauty parlour to have an identity which complimented and extended
the French theme behind its name.
The identity draws inspiration from coded communication used by French courtesans during the Renaissance,
when the mere flutter of a fan carried several meanings, relevant only to others who spoke the secret language.
Similarly, Vanilalá relies on a set of icons and a unique character—the ‘V’ coupled with the acute accent of the ‘a’—to convey a sense of secrecy, of messages relevant only to a select few.
Another goal of this identity was to allow the Vanilalá beauty experts to shine and showcase their craft,
by having them manually personalise some of the instances where the V monogram is being used.
