The idea came from an individual within the Creative department, and after it was pitched to the Diversity and Inclusions department, who funded it to run as a digital-first piece of content. After the successful shoot and edit, the commissioners really liked the final edit and gave it an on-air slot on ITV1.
A traditional TV budget for a show such as Breaking Through, would cost in excess of £200,000. However, Breaking Through was made on a budget of £35,000.
