At UF.URAL Fashion Week 2024 in Russia, we presented a transitional and culturally-rooted collection that marked a powerful moment in the Urban Zulu narrative. This showcase served as a creative bridge — bidding farewell to the Bulongo Collection, while ceremonially introducing the Manzi Collection and laying the conceptual groundwork for future explorations.

The aesthetic direction was guided by a layered styling philosophy, informed by my role as Image Consultant and Lead Stylist under The Gathering Image & Lifestyle Group. Each look was crafted to reflect a deliberate evolution — one that remains grounded in Urban Zulu’s ethos while pushing forward with new, fluid silhouettes and contemporary cultural cues.

At the heart of this collection was “homage”: homage to where we began — the Heritage Collection, which still echoes through our design DNA. We drew inspiration from traditional South African textiles and forms, while translating them into a global streetwear dialogue. This was not just fashion — it was a cultural story told in three acts: Closure. Rebirth. Prophecy.

The styling juxtaposed raw urban elements with spiritual undertones — harnessing earth tones, water symbolism, and Afro-futuristic accessories. The garments moved like poetry across the runway, carrying narratives of transition, cultural pride, and identity reinvention.

This show wasn’t just about garments. It was about legacy, rhythm, and storytelling through fabric. We honored the past, stood firm in the present, and teased the future. Russia bore witness to the next chapter of Urban Zulu — styled with purpose, intention, and unwavering soul.
