ABOUT
This project was made to showcase all of the skills and knowledge built up throughout my internship at Pixogenic. Mike Highley and Stewart Spalding trained me in animating, use of splines and imagery to model car bodies, and how to work with materials in 3D Studio Max with Vray for importing into Unreal Engine 4 using Datasmith.
The car and all its animations took around 3 weeks to complete, with a further 3 weeks dedicated to programming the configurator using Unreal’s Blueprint scripting. Using the existing code developed for the configurator, I was able to make a simple VR version of the system in about 2 days. The VR system uses collision boxes and coloured and text rendered cubes to allow users to press buttons that change the cars colours and animate sections of the vehicle. Examples of these collision-triggered cubes can be seen on the next page, and a full video demonstration of the desktop configurator can be seen here.
