ABOUT

The artist's sources of inspiration include her relationship with the Arabic region's unique environment, the nature of the Gulf, and Eastern culture. Their elements morph into new forms of expression. The colors of the Gulf, daily life, and the region's unique environment take on collectively resonating structures as they radiate in the artwork of the artist. The artist uses a variety of base to create their textile collage, including cotton, silk, leather and yarn. The coffee cup images on the canvas prints are layered and integrated into the collages, adding a unique element to the overall composition.
The project is a simple pleasantry with diverse responses. In this artwork, the author asks, "What s your cup of Qahwa?" by combining canvas prints with her distinctive textile motifs on various bases (cotton, leather, silk, and yarn). The artist roots the work in the Arabic culture through her allusion to the traditional drink of Qahwa combined with her signature visions of Arabic culture, distilled into forms, patterns, and colours that represent the cultural, social, and natural environments.
This project is about innovative ways of seeing. From the experiences of specific places or moments in time to the emotions we internalize, the designer translates the physical and the intangible into an embodiment of their foundational forms accented by her distinctive eye for colour. Elements of Arabic culture take on collectively resonating forms as they radiate with the colours of the gulf, daily life, and the region's unique environment. Her patterns and abstraction act in a way that breaks down cultural, geographic, social, or political barriers.
