Recently, Independent Software has done identity design work for LAH Associados, a Mozambican consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, project analysis, monitoring and evaluation in the fields of infrastructure and transport.

LAH Associados specializes in bringing together the disciplines of economics, engineering and finance to prepare strategies, evaluate projects, monitor performance and undertake due diligence to help ensure successful projects.

Previously, LAH Associados had design work done by a local company who did not deliver the design quality LAH was hoping for. The designs were lackluster and did not stand out from the crowd. Independent Software has done a complete identity redesign, including business cards, a public website, brochures and profiles.
Brochure Design

LAH Associados did something that I very much appreciate. They decided to use their own photographs in all design work. Other design work tends to use photos off the internet or bought off GettyImages, Dreamstime and such, but these are generic and do not reflect the reality of the company (or of Mozambique). For this reason, even though LAH’s own photos may be less professional, they were used anyway and the result is the better for it.

The photograph for this cover was taken in LAH’s offices – actually, about 50 photographs were taken to get the right composition of objects. The business card seen had already been designed earlier, but a special card was printed with just the company’s name (any no individual). We used Adobe Photoshop to boost the photograph’s colors to make it warmer. The font used throughout all design materials is Baskerville. As Baskerville is not a free font, we managed to source a free alternative font with a very compatible look.
Website

Independent Software built LAH Associados’ website in WordPress. We were careful to make sure that it is mobile responsive. The website is currently hosted on our fast web servers.
