Employment History

Aug 2012 - Aug 2012 / NME Magazine / Position: Graphic Designer (experience)

Duties: Was extracting content from Microsoft Word onto magazine page spreads using Adobe Indesign. And styling text to design individual pages for different articles, music reviews and exclusive events. Combined art & design and technical skills together to produce illustrations to give clues of preface related to word searches. While I was working as a designer at NME MAGAZINE I learnt how to work towards deadlines, completing jobs on the same day so each issue of a magazine is ready for sub editing. My first magazine was published in stores.

Aug 2012 - Aug 2012 / NXG Magazine / Position: Administrator, events planner & social media assistant (experience)

Duties: Was using emails and phone by means of communication to contact companies to organise events. And also with the company supplies. While working at NXG I was responsible for creating a database using Microsoft Access to organise data. The type of data given to me were contact details of entertainment acts, suppliers, volunteers and number of tickets sold etc. Meetings had to be focused on the rota of NXG's event. When attending meetings I gave suggestions on how to approach their audience via social media and on the day of event. Also I had to control Facebook and Twitter to promote events.

Sep 2011 - Nov 2012 / Link up TV / Position: Writer

Duties: My duties as a music writer involved listening and researching into entertainment & music news and press releases. The reason behind this was to compile news articles and music reviews which was credited by me. But was uploaded on the website every day.

April 2011 - present / Live Magazine / Position: Graphic Designer & Writer (voluntary job)

Duties: I supported designers at Live Magazine to edit text and insert content onto page spreads so monthly publications were completed on time. Also I designed newsletters for projects LIVE had taken part in. This organisation is for young people therefore they have an interest working with schools in the borough. Also I was involved in promotional work, giving ideas on poster designs for a new youth club in Cape Town (South Africa). Alongside my design role I contributed writing articles which was published on the website and LIVE MAGAZINE'S social media sites.

July 2010 - Aug 2012 / Urban Development / Position: UD Creative (experience)

Duties: I was involved in promoting strategies in URBAN DEVELOPMENT and was promoting to sell their fortnight event (Industry Takeover). The strategies recommended by URBAN DEVELOPMENT were sending out leaflets through email marketing in addition to this I worked with a street team to target audience directly, contacting youth community centres and using internal and external marketing. Also I did use Twitpic effectively for twitting Industry Takeover marketing resources (banner) everyday in every hour. Each week URBAN DEVELOPMENT produces Youtube videos of performers involved in upcoming events; these videos were posted on social media sites by me and other creatives. When attending music events I provided future contacts for URBAN DEVELOPMENT. I also made a decision to interview urban artists such as Cleo Sol. To compile an interview, article and ideas I've used research, observational and creative thinking skills.

Jan - Feb 2009 / Newvic Sixth Form College / Position: Film Editor (experience)

Duties: I worked in partnership with other young designers, musicians and Royal College Of Art graduates construct a sound and image piece. A cam recorder was used for filming the process of London 2012 building site & Westfield. The instruments included in the music were guitars, drums, keyboards and violins. For this project I was a film editor. My job was to listen and communicate with the length and emotion of the music.

Interests

-Inspired by artists such as Cézanne and Georgia O Keeffie; because I love the unique techniques they apply into their paintings to express personality.

-I also love alternative urban music, street photography and magazines.

-Since studying at Central Saint Martins I decided to learn skills in promotions, planning events and admin as you can see I like to explore the creative sector. This was important because I needed to understand how to manage an arts company.

-More specialised for print production (editorial design) anything to do with photography and layout design.

-While working as a designer at NME and Live Magazine I realised the different creativity mentalities both companies. NME Magazine which is produced weekly, needed me to work under time and pressure. Live Magazine produced monthly that gave me the skills and experience to be more proactive in my ideas.
