ABOUT

INTRODUCTION:
In this case study, I explore my role as film composer for “The Girl Who Got Away”, a psychological thriller/horror film, written and directed by Michael Morrissey, and released in 2021. My objective with this case study is to illuminate the pivotal role music played in weaving the emotional narrative, spanning a wide spectrum of emotions.

CREATIVE PROCESS
I focused on striking the right balance between the dramatic emotional journey of the main character, with the increasingly dark malevolence of the antagonist, while keeping an otherwise diverse music palette, consistent and organic.

MUSIC EXAMPLES:
The selected clips demonstrate how the themes of the main character and antagonists are:
(a) structured
(b) how they develop over the time line of the film
(C) how they interact and influence each other
(D) how they inform the audience emotionally

They also offer insight to my compositional choices and process.
