ABOUT
DOCUMENTARY"The Artisans of Pakistan"
IntroductionOur theme is how art helps social well-being and the economy. In our society, artists work their day and night making creative things, which is their intellectual property sold by the middleman. This led to the discouragement of the artist and their social circle is still left behind. No one knows who is making these things. Artists cannot reach out to their fellow artists in front of the world. To solve this problem, we are conducting a short documentary on these artisans to show that if they are provided with a platform in which they can sell their art, meet fellow artists, learn more about other art forms, increase their social circle and well-being and earn directly from the clients and increase their business. In this report, we will show a web platform proposal through which artisan of Pakistan can sell their art, learn more, and get in touch with other artists and the world. In our documentary, we will also show the role of the middleman, who is working to sell the artist's work on their prescribed margin. The conclusion of this report is to socially activate the artisans of Pakistan.
Title“The Artisans of Pakistan”ConceptThe Artisans of Pakistan is a documentary that tells the personal stories of the largest population of workers in the cottage and handicrafts industry of Pakistan: people of color. The documentary is a rich blend of cultural history and economic significance, often overshadowed by artisan struggles, people of color, and work. We aim to tell the stories, struggles, and aspirations of these unsung heroes. The Pakistani Cultural Artisans documentaries are intended to educate, motivate, and empower people.Problem StatementThe cottage and handicraft industry in Pakistan face these problems. Besides the posers on the other side during the creation of the works of art the artisans contribute to the economic and cultural heritage of the country. On the other hand, their contributions are usually not valued and appreciated. Expert engineers have market remunerations. The aspect which is vivid in the sentence to be rephrase is "Receive inadequate compensation causing financial instability and lack of alternative livelihoods". The marginalized groups also face the problems of skill acquisition and fair playing field. Executive SummaryThe project is to shift change the perception on how overtime artisans in the cottage and handicrafts industries of Pakistan are supported through creative media and other digital tools for the social welfare. It is, therefore, the aim of this web application to facilitate the access of markets for artisans by making it easier for them to create online stores. Through this platform, the artisans will be able to present their works to the entire world since no middlemen will be involved thus giving the artisans the freedom to deal with their earnings as they feel fit. In this way, the platform will let the artisans support each other because the platform will become a friendly environment where they can find useful educational materials. By doing so, our goal is to give economic standing to the crafters, mainly by granting distinct acknowledgment and assistance to increasing individuals in this significant sector.Project ObjectivesIt will be necessary to develop a M-commerce solution for a target group of handmade goods producers in Pakistan. This platform shall act as a selling center for artisans to upload their products and sell them to customers Worldwide. In the way of making artisans create their profiles where they can describe their talent, experience, and what they create we believe that instead of connecting artisans with customers through certain platforms or stores, artisans Ought to be allowed to have full autonomy of their work and earnings. Besides, the platform will also contain a wide range of materials helping to earn on the exchange and explaining the principles of cryptocurrency and blockchain in general; these materials will include tutorials, articles and videos posted in both Urdu and English languages. It is intended for those persons that work as artisans or involved in some aspect of the craft industry so as to enable them achieve higher standards in their work and management of there businesses accordingly. They will also incorporate social functionalities like forums or circles which will help the artisans share knowledge / ideas / resources and even partner in projects. The idea will focus on including third party creative media content that pinpoints successful artisans and their experiences to entice the younger generations to join the artisans’ fraternity bearing in mind the difficulties that force many artisans to leave the trade. The main target is to create easy to use web application/tools for a marketer that can enhance market for artisans.
InspirationWe take our inspiration from one of our teachers who, in the past, attempted to work on the same project but was unsuccessful since there was no internet in the surrounding regions and there was a lack of digital marketing services. After hearing that narrative from him, we made the decision to collaborate with the craftsmen of Pakistan in order to encourage them to establish a presence on social media and take responsibility for selling their goods on their own. For the purpose of minimising the errors that our instructor had made, we also sought the assistance of our teacher in completing this assignment. With the assistance of our instructor's recommendations, we went around to different individuals and conducted interviews with them.LocationIn location scouting, we discovered that Lok virsa, Islamabad is an ideal location since it is home to a large number of craftsmen who are selling their products. Additionally, there are middlemen who are selling the things that are produced by artisans from all over Pakistan on a margin. It is widely known because Lok Virsa is home to a music hall and an art museum. In nearby areas of the hall, there are individuals who have little stores and booths where they sell their wares at very low prices. The second destination is Saidpur Village, and we chose it because it is home to a population of poor individuals who are also brilliant minds. When we went there, we discovered a pottery studio where a family was producing items out of mud and selling them in the surrounding areas. There is no social connection between them, and they are unable to sell their products online.
