The elevated prostate cancer risk farmers face is long established and is believed to be caused by factors including chemical exposure, difficulties accessing healthcare and a traditional ‘tough it out’ mindset. Traditional healthcare communications rarely break through these barriers. To make a real difference, we had to reach them outside the clinic.
Vet Your Prostate redesigns how a health brand shows up for an underserved community. Rather than broadcasting at farmers, Thriva built an end-to-end brand experience delivered through the one medical professional farmers already trust: their vet. Farm vets were recruited, trained, and equipped to initiate prostate cancer risk conversations during routine visits, with PSA tests available to order and administer on-farm. No clinic visit required.
Thriva gained access to a previously untapped demographic, while the wider implication is significant: demonstrating that "tough" audiences can be reached. They just need healthcare delivered in a way that respects their reality.
