ABOUT
Even today early baby loss is still shrouded in silence, whether from societal taboos and stigma or institutional failings in training and support. This leaves parents having to navigate one of the most profound and devastating events in a person’s life alone, and without proper support. Add to this that women are 4x more likely to suffer depression after experiencing a stillbirth and also have 5x higher rates of suicide. Acknowledging the memory of their child and its unique life can help grieving mothers make meaning of their loss, process their trauma and feel connected to others. For this reason, neonatal specialists Medicina partnered with artist-physicist Salmonick Atelier, to create Still Loved – a live digital nebula, turning billions of particles into a world-scale experience where grief becomes remembrance and love endures. Using this nebula as a metaphor for life and light, the campaign, launched on Mother’s Day, transforms brief lives into lasting stars, ensuring that every baby can be honoured and every mother’s love validated. By accessing the online nebula, mothers can add the name and date of their baby to the stars and generate a personalised counter to show weeks of loss as weeks of love, while at the same time seeing their loss as part of a wider community, helping them share their grief in a safe space. Every visual choice - soft celestial tones, gentle motion, and reflective pacing – helped parents navigate the healing journey from entry to support, breaking the silence that lingers to honour a love that lasts.
