ABOUT

This was a competition that I took part in that was set by ‘Penguin Books’. It required me to produce a new book cover, which, once the winner was selected, their design would then be published.

After watching the film and taking several notes throughout, I then got down to ideation in which I came up with a concept of using the iconic eye scene along with the theme ‘freedom of choice’. As this theme was a massive part of the film, I felt that it would be a great concept to work on as the outcomes could vary so much. Once the theme was selected, I then wanted to go against the ‘freedom of choice’ and started to ideate on what represents your freedom being stopped.

This then lead to thinking of prison and the bars and I started joining the pieces together. The front cover shows a hand grabbing onto bars which is part of an eye, this links to the theme of no freedom with the back cover design representing 'freedom'.
