I was asked to create a style for the Just Kampers workshop, with the brief specifying it being called a Speedshop. This was great, because it meant I could research American retro car graphics and visually there is some stunning design out there. I started by drawing car parts that I thought would work and decided on the piston as it's quite a symbolic part. The wings just had to go on, hinting at speed and the fact that it fits the style really well. I then took all my sketches into Illustrator and drew them, adding some rough edges and texture to give them that retro quality. The Just Kampers colours are blue, orange and beige, which I used as my colour palette, but muting them slightly to add a retro feel.
