In collaboration with the FIM (Federation of International Motorcycling) we produced a film looking at the role of women within the sport of motorcycling.

Concept:

The FIM's Women's Commission and WebsEdge wanted to showcase personal stories from women who have paved their way to make a difference within the word of Motorcycling.

The objective was to inspire and encourage the younger female generation into sports, and demonstrate that anything is possible.

If you have a dream, nothing should stand in your way and if you can see it, you can be it!

Execution:

We profiled 5 women in various countries. We hear from:

Andrea Colman (UK) who rode in the 70's, She married a motorcycle rider who unfortunately died in a crash during a race. He left he with two young twin girls and since then she has dedicated her life to using motorcycles for humanitarian causes and set up the charity Two Wheels for Life.

Kiara Fontanesi (Italy) A professional motocross racer, Kiara is notable for being six-time FIM women's motocross world champion. She talks openly about raising a family as an athlete in a competitive and male dominated sport. At the time of our interview Kiara was 8 months pregnant with her second baby

Iris Kramer (Germany)
Iris is notable for winning six German Women's Trials Championships, three Women's FIM Trial European Championships and the 2007 Women's FIM World Championships.
In 2011, Kramer was named an FIM Legend for her motorcycling achievements. She talks openly about the challenges she has overcome, including a horrific injury that meant she was unable to carry on riding. But her story continues!

Ran Yochey (Israel)
Ran is the youngest interviewee in the film. She started riding when she was 8 years old and at 14 she decided to race in Red Bull Romanicacs. She talks about growing up believing that a career racing wouldn’t be possible for a young girl but now at 18 years old she is a role model to her generation.

The film was produced with a small budget and made up of a crew of two at most shots (producer and cameraman)





Results:

The film has been very well received since its official launch on International Women's day in March 2023. The film was premiered at a Women in Motorsports Conference and the viewers in the audience (both men and women) said they are tears they eyes! We wanted to create that emotional human story that not only resonates with women in sports, but women and young girls in any sector.

The film has been broadcasted on Israeli TV and shown globally by Motorcycle Federations as well as providing educational content in schools and colleges.

In a world where diversity and inclusivity are paramount, it is vital that women who paved the way for female and gender equality are not just seen but their stories are heard. And this film does exactly that.
